Charles Creech, 36, faces burglary charges after police responded to a call alleging theft from a vacant house.  Creech hid in the basement ceiling as police checked the house.  During the search, the drywall gave way and Creech fell through the ceiling.  He was transported to a local hospital, charged with theft, and referred to the office of the public defender for representation.  Source

The University of South Carolina will offer a course next semester called Lady Gaga and the Sociology of Fame. The professor, Mathieu Deflem, says enrollment is limited to 50 students but next fall he will open it up to 120. The course description reads as follows:

“The central objective of this course, then, is to unravel some of the sociologically relevant dimensions of the fame of Lady Gaga with respect to her music, videos, fashion, and other artistic endeavours, with special attention for the role of: business and marketing strategies; the role of the old and new media; fans and live concerts; gay culture; religious and political themes; sex and sexuality; and the cities of New York and Hollywood.” Source

A pair of books were returned to the Boston Public Library that were due September 21, 1950. The titles “Autobiography by John Stuart Mill” and “The Writings of Henry David Thoreau, with a note reading:

“I came across these two books that don’t belong to me, they belong to you. I must have taken them out when I was a college student in Boston,” the note read. “I did not mean to keep them. … I am returning them to whom they belong, that is you and the people of the city of Boston.”

The Library said they would not be charging late fees. Source

In an ironic news story from Lincoln, Nebraska, 19-year-old Matthew Nieveen dressed as a Breathalyzer for a Halloween party and on his return home was pulled over by police who measured his blood alcohol content at .08, over twice the legal limit for diving. Nieveen reportedly had slurred speech and several cans of beer, liquor, and caffeinated beverages in his truck.  He was given a DUI and cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol as well as an open container violation and negligent driving. A 22-year-old man, Kyle James Eckman, is accused of putting on high heels shoes in a dressing room and walking out of the store without paying. He was stopped outside the store where he was discovered to be carrying his own pair of shoes in the shoe box. Eckman may face felony charges due to two prior theft convictions. He was arrested with bail set at $50,000. Source
